Don't let 100,000 bad apples spoil the whole bunch

One of my favorite law school professors always said that. He had a good sense of humor about being a lawyer and the butt of many lawyer jokes. Lawyers get a pretty bad rap sometimes, but I like to think that there are good ones out there, especially now that I'm joining their ranks.

And now, it's officially official. My law school grades came out today and I passed all my classes! Not only did I pass, but I had my BEST semester of law school! I graduated with honors and I feel pretty accomplished. (now I just need to find gainful employment...)

Reflecting on law school, it was a good experience over all. It was tough, but not unbearable. And many times, pretty enjoyable. Even if I was studying late at night, I was studying with great people.

One thing that I really dislike about law school is the grading system and what it made me think the minute I entered a class after my 1L year. I would scope out the class and immediately think, "I can beat those people, and I probably can't beat those people, and overall I should [get a pretty decent grade] or [drop the class because it'll be too hard to get the grade I want]. I instantly compared myself to everyone in the class based on the incomplete information that I had.

I wish law school was like every other graduate degree program where you are taking classes to learn, develop academically/intellectually, and because you wanted to. No. I took classes because they were required, they will be tested on the bar exam, and because I thought I would get a good grade in the class.

It's a bit short-sighted. I like to think that people who make it to law school actually enjoy learning. I definitely do. (Honestly, I liked all of my classes)

But, I have to admit that it feels pretty good to be done. And now... on to bigger and better things!
