My day started out great. I'm preparing for my mission and reading Empire Falls. Then I come to campus to take care of business with the LSA offices. However, as I was walking to the post office to buy a stamp, I was hit by a bicyclist! Like they were riding and the whopping 2 feet I take up was in there way that out of nowhere, they hit me from behind. As he was trying to regain control, he turned his wheel awkwardly and knocked my feet out from under me causing me to fall onto the sidewalk and his bike spokes. My leg twisted awkwardly and immediately began throbbing.
He was riding his bike next to someone who was walking, so I'm not really sure how this all happened. I strained to not burst into tears and they helped me up and I decided that I needed to sit on the steps of the School of Education because it was painful to walk from one side of the sidewalk to the other. As I'm sitting for a moment they ask me if I'm alright and if I want to go to UHS (university health system or services). No! I don't want to go to UHS... I want to yell at LSA people and get my applications straightened out. My knee is throbbing a lot less, so I say, "I think I'm fine," and I continue walking to the post office. Just a lot more strained. It feels better to not bend my knee, but that is difficult when walking...
These are cell phone photos, which explains the quality. But I have several scratches on my knee from the wheel spokes when I landed on them in my descent downward. There are about 4 of these.
This is the approximate location. I was pretty close to eating snow and/or hitting my face on the curb. Luckily?! His bike caught me.
This is why I hate bicyclists on campus. Now don't get me wrong, I love biking, and I find it enjoyable. But if there is snow on the ground, even the slightest bit, maybe it's time to put the bike away for the winter. Also, I hate bicyclists who dart around pedestrians trying to continue biking quickly... You know what, that's dangerous! I also hate bicyclists who bike in the rain, with umbrellas (yes, I've seen that before). You need to wear a helmet and you need to obey traffic rules if you are going to ride in the road. You need to park your bike somewhere on campus and while on campus stick to walking. Then when it's time for you to go home bike home, but not during busy pedestrian hours. You know what, just live close enough to walk or take the bus. Get your exercise interacting with other people... play basketball or football or something! Don't run me over with your bike.
Ok I'm done with that.
On another note, I turned in my Dean's Certifications to the LSA people, which is useless because I'm in Kinesiology. But when I asked my law adviser, why didn't she say turn it into your school. It really seems that any old person could do it. Just say I haven't cheated or been on probation and be done with it. This is entire useless paperwork. So it turns out, they forwarded my forms on December 20th to Kines, but no one told me about it, and they evidentially didn't get to the right person because they were never sent. So I got it all taken care of for BYU because their deadline is March 1. But U of WA deadline is... yesterday. So I sent them an email asking if it would be still considered because of the circumstance and I am just waiting for a reply now. I hope they send them tomorrow and get it as close to the 15th as possible so that they can take mercy on me. I should email them my blog, then they'd feel bad for me and would surely say: "You're in! Congrats!"
Anyway, I'm now at work hoping to not walk too much because my knee hurts, but still need to walk so that it doesn't get too stiff. Well, such is life. Plan on me complaining for at least 3 days.

Stupid bicyclists should not be allowed, period, especially those on campus. I HATE THEM! I hope today is a better day...and I'm sure tomorrow will be! :)
Sounds like a pretty sucky day...but just look on the bright side of things. At least your weren´t hit by a car and put in the hospital. We should all be more precautious. Hope today´s a whole lot better.
