Well, it has been quite a month thus far. I am chugging along in school, still waiting for my LSAT scores and for my mission call, but I am definitely keeping busy. This weekend I flew down to Dallas to visit Brian. I was really excited to be on a break from school and to see him again. Who knew that 2 months of long distance would be fairly difficult? So I arrived in Dallas on Thursday night and I stayed at his house. We got there fairly late at night, but it turned out well. We of course made a stop at the store to make sure that I could have some skim milk for the weekend… You see, he’s a 2% kind of guy, and I’m skim all the way.
On Friday, we went to the Texas State Fair. I accidentally directed him to the parking lot for $10 instead of $5, but the lady made sure that there was a cone behind his car, so it made it all worth it. The state fair was a lot of fun. We saw some acrobats, a guy shot out of a cannon, a bmx bike show, dog dancing, tons of carnival rides and games and lots of fried food. Now this dog dancing thing sounded pretty cool in the imagination, but in actuality, the dog dancing was pretty awful and disturbing. It was strange women in stranger costumes with treats and dogs running around in circles pretending it was dancing. We left that before it was over so we could check out the auto show. Now, it’s nothing like the grandeur of the Detroit Auto Show, but I guess for a state fair it will suffice.
So, since Brian lives in the boonies, they have to have satellite tv if they want any tv at all really. (they even have satellite internet), and it turns out that he had the Big Ten Network, so we watched the Michigan vs. Purdue football game on Saturday. I was doing some of the cheers and he was completely making fun of me. It was a lot of fun… especially since they killed them… Then we went to Krista’s soccer game. Their team got pretty crushed – at least 8-3 or something horrible like that, but Krista scored her first goal of the season and she was so excited. She was also really excited that I was there watching and that I was going to come over after the game. She even rainchecked a play date to play with me. I think that is a pretty high complement coming from a 7-year old. Well, we were able to play Sorry and Phase 10, so I think she was pretty happy. Oh, and Zach made us brownie muffins since we went over there to hang out. We left the Herlin’s around 7 to go to Dallas to see Macbeth through Shakespeare Dallas. It was really good to see the play performed live, but it ended up being a lot colder outside than we were expecting. I had a sweatshirt on, but Brian just had a t-shirt. It was a really windy night and it was definitely cold. I guess it gave us a good excuse to get close.
On Sunday, we woke up pretty late and went to church. It was really good to see all the people in the Carrollton 4th Branch. They are really nice people and I felt pretty welcomed. … Like I had never left. After church, we went back to Brian’s house and his family was all sitting around a dryer box with two little kids (3 and 4 years old) were beating each other up inside it and laughing hysterically. They didn’t want to get out of the box. It was pretty much hilarious. All you need is a box and kids will be happy.
On Monday, Brian had class, well he missed his first one because the power went out and refused to go to class if he couldn’t take a shower, and since he is on a well (boonies) they didn’t have any water. After class we drove around the town and saw his tiny high school and lots of farmland. It’s a bit different than metro Detroit… Then we went back over to the Herlin’s, had dinner, played games and guitar hero. It was a lot of fun. I miss their family.
Tuesday we just hung around the house and watched a movie and did the packing and leaving stuff. I’m home now and wish I was back there. It was a good fall break, but now I have to catch up on all the stuff I didn’t do… like a take home exam, a paper, and a paper proposal. Fun stuff. My life must continue.
Ok so I can't upload photos for some reason... photos to come later...

Sorry for seeming like such a guttersnipe at church; I really just have problems with walking and talking.
