It's a man's world

In my class on legal perspectives we're reading about Feminist theory and tort.

Some highlights:

"would men feel included if the generic word for people was woman"?

On how men named everything: "An important work is 'seminal' not 'ovular'"
"Sexual intercourse is referred to as 'penetration' -clearly the male experience; a woman might name it 'enclosure.'"

(on treating men and women equal) "Why should men be the measure? Why should we have to argue for special treatment for women if we acknowledge that women and men are different from one another"

I think class is going to be interesting tomorrow. But honestly, I think they have the wrong audience. Most of the women at BYU might agree with that whole nurturing thing. Then again it is BYU Law School and not Home and Family Life...
