democracy?!?

This is an image of the Traingle Shirtwaist Company fire in 1910 (ish). Sweatshops are not solely confined to China and Taiwan. This was a very disturbing movie that we watched. I'm glad I wasn't a poor girl in 1910 that had to work in sweatshops. I may not like my job, but I can go to the bathroom and leave when I want I suppose. 8 hour days are much better than 18 hours of sewing... well, I doubt that anyone would want me sewing anyway.

I took the LSAT today... possibly the future of 18 hour days anyway, but I feel fairly content about it. If I do well, then great, but if not, I'll be alright... there's always investment banking right? (totally kidding)

There was a distinct difference between the people who took the test at the University of Texas (at Dallas) and the people who took the test at Concordia University... UTD was all about getting 170, Concordia was all about getting a good enough score to get into law school... 155. I thought that was an interesting breakdown. I also talked to some people concerned with debt, and yet the debt of law school is an investment, but their credit card debt is probably frivolous and unnecessary purchases. I have no credit card debt, but I do have student loans and find them as a means to something better. I have not had to go into debt for any other purposes, which is good.

Nothing too exciting is going on in my life right now. But I'm feeling content and realizing that I have been blessed with a good family and good opportunities. The excitement will start picking up around fall break and a little after when I get my scores back. Then the flurry of law school applications. I just hope that I can do something useful with my life... live up to expectations... the Dean of something that deals with Alumni affairs is already getting on me for donations in the "haha sense", but the undertones of expectation to donate to Kinesiology. She passed my class waivers through pretty quickly, so I 'owe' her... I find that also very interesting...
