Do you ever laugh so hard and for so long that your abdominal muscles really get a solid work out? It's my favorite type of "work out" by far!
My roommates and I are often strange. For example, we like to sit around the table and sing 80s and 90s ballads. Not just ballads. We like to have sing-a-longs.
One of my roommates really likes P!nk and Bruno Mars songs right now. She likes the "Just Give Me a Reason" song so much that she bought the piano sheet music for it (mostly because it's all piano, but still!). We sat around the piano and sang (me off key) while she played. Did you know that song is 9 pages? Trust me, it was a lot of pages.
Anyway, we sing randomly.
As we were heading home one night, Truly, Madly, Deeply, (Savage Garden) came on the radio. This was previously a song that we sang along to around our kitchen table, so naturally we're singing fairly loudly in the car. I have my window cracked (I'm in the passenger seat) and this man in the SUV next to us starts staring.
Naturally, I wave and smile.*
He waves back. Fits of giggling ensues. I'm desperately trying to sing along to my favorite song from the 4th grade, but really I'm using all of my energy to suppress laughter. The song ends and we lose our SUV friend for a minute.
Then "When I Was Your Man" by Bruno Mars comes on the radio. It is my one roommate's favorite songs right now, so we turn it up and start singing loudly (me off key again). SUV friend keeps on driving next to us and I keep waving. He rolls down his window and is basically hanging out it to talk to us. That's when I try to maintain my composure and look straight ahead. As he passes us, we realize that there was someone in the back seat and we just lose it for some reason and start laughing.
I don't really know why this was so hilarious, but it was. Singing along to the blaring radio while random people laugh at (but really with) you. Maybe because we could go back to the carefree days of high school.
Sometimes, you just need to blast the radio and sing along while the world watches your craziness.
We had a back up plan just in case he followed us home. Don't worry.
*This is probably helps explain why so many strange men like me.
