October Adventures

October has been a very busy month! There has definitely always been something going on. Sometimes you just need to spend some quality time with your oldest friends. It's kinda crazy to think that I've been friends with these girls for 15-20+ years! (We're getting old!)

Looks like someone needs to clean the bean!
Sometimes, you just have to take in the city at night. It can be pretty majestic!

We've had some nice fall days to spend outside. Although, we can all feel that winter is coming and we've got to brace ourselves!

Gorgeous fall
I love free days at the museums. The Field Museum had a free day yesterday, so I took the afternoon off and spent some time exploring history, culture, animals, and gems.

Fall isn't complete without carving pumpkins! I hope you all have a happy Halloween!
Happy Halloween!

Lackluster Halloween Craft Night

I am extremely excited that it's fall. I love the crisp air, falling leaves, and pumpkin treats. I chatted with my roommates about having a roommate craft night. They seemed excited. So I went and purchased some white fabric to make some simple ghosts. We had the paper, markers, hole punches, and ideas for all the other projects in a simple craft book that I purchased last October.

So as we started crafting, it became clear that my roommates weren't really into the crafting part, but they did make sugar cookies into Halloween shapes that I happily ate. So I set off to do some simple crafts on my own.

When you think of Halloween crafting, you probably imagine something outstanding that my friend Elizabeth recently made like this:

Elizabeth's Craft Night

You can tell she has mastered the hot glue gun and knows her way around Michael's. A crow, a skeleton, and tons of spooky goodness.

Then you can take a look at my sister-in-law's Halloween spirit. Her house is a Halloween zone!

When you compare these to my measly crafts, you walk into my house without mentioning the Halloween decor. On a scale to 1 to 10, I earned a big fat LAME-O.

I mean, take a look at my simple pipe cleaner spider...

Simple spider that took 15 minutes
And I labored diligently to hang a few bats and ghosts from the lights in my living room. I'm pretty sure Elizabeth would approve since they all have googly eyes, but still, they don't capture the Halloween spirit that I was hoping for.
Simple ghosts and bats that took the rest of the evening
At least I tried, right? That's the spirit? Well, I have three more weeks to pull out all the stops... But I might just eat cider, donuts, and candy, and be content.

October Oops!

Where did October go? I cannot believe I didn't post at all.

The best news of my October was the fact that I passed the Bar Exam! Woot! My bar passage came with some drama, because let's face it, it wouldn't be my life without drama.

If you look up the official list of July 2012 Michigan Bar passers, I won't be on that list. It's because my MPRE scores were misplaced since I initially sent them to Illinois and then had to send them to Michigan. So that caused me to be on a different list or something, and so I had to call and tell them I really did pass the MPRE. All is well and it is all worked out now. I did in fact pass the arguably hardest bar exam for Michigan since only 55% passed. I am so happy and relieved! :)

So now, you can write Esquire or Esq. whenever you write me a letter. ;)

In other October news:
I went to Michigan for the U of M v. MSU football game (and Michigan won!)
I watched a lot of Justin Verlander and the Detroit Tigers
I made Halloween crafts

I ran an adventure/scavenger hunt race in DC called Urban Dare

I dressed up as a replacement referee (I'm blind) for Halloween
I got a new phone and a new laptop since all of my devices died at the same time
I survived my first Hurricane!

All in all, a pretty eventful month!
