I wish I could tell you all about my amazing and exciting dating life because I'm sure that would be interesting, but my dating life has failed to get off the ground thus far. I thought I'd test out a few possibilities in a casual setting and it became very clear that neither would work...
So I thought I'd share something else that is very exciting to me. I bought a new set of scriptures. I know that doesn't sound super exciting, but let me tell you it is. As you can see, my scriptures are pretty marked up. If you look closely, you'll see pink high lighter, pink ball point pen and all sorts of things written in the margins. I've had my scriptures since I was 8. I thought it was time to get the new maps, some tabs, and a blank slate to rejuvenate my scripture study.
So, my question for my loyal readers (all 3 of you): what are your scripture marking techniques? I don't want just a crazy mess any more. I want something systematic. Any and all suggestions are welcome!

Pencil and sticky notes. You can change out the sticky notes and erase the pencil if you have. I do little arrows (you know the greater than sign), circling verse numbers, little check marks in the margin near the phrase and sometimes brackets for larger text but not entire verses. Kind of like the way my professors read my essays in college.
My scripture marking has always been haphazard, and I don't mark my regular scriptures much anymore, so I don't have a lot of scripture marking advice. I used to keep a cheap triple combination on hand to read and write notes in pencil in the margin, and it's interesting to go back and see the insights I had. Kind of like a journal. In my regular scriptures I used sticky notes for awhile to kind of accomplish the same purpose, or for recording quotations from general conference that seemed relevant. I liked the sticky notes because I could take them out later if I wanted to.
I use the small sticky tabs for notes then I use topic color coated (per topic) pencils and I just do a thin stripe vertically down the verse or passage. That is when I actually study with my scriptures. I am studying more on my phone or computer due to a little page ripper. (and on lds.org they have a note section. )
Thanks for all of your suggestions. I'm going to try out a few of them.
Greg likes to use a four colored pen and each color is used for different principles and doctrines. If I remember correctly you used the same kind of pen on the mission?
